"No thank you," he replied.
After he sat down, he mulled over how to word his question. But then he decided it was better to just make his pitch as blunt as he could.
"I want to move in with the Defenders. Not to join the team, really, but to just be around the kind of people who are...better equipped to handle a situation that I could be the cause of. And of course, I'd always be willing to help them out if they needed me to."
