Lucas sees the attack coming, and throws up his best protection from the elements. It doesn't even begin to counter the attack, and he's held, but at least he can move somewhat. Trying to disguise it as struggling, he turns almost his whole attention to putting up wards and countermagics to protect people from Spiral as much as possible.
