With Mac's speed, making their way out wasn't difficult. Malacandrans were moving everywhere, panicking, but none were in the mood to even try and deal with the two Earthmen.
Kal had gotten the others off the ship, which left the shuttle for them.
It was just in time to watch the mothership explode.
Steve, watching, looked emotionless. The only sign of anything he might be feeling was the clenching and unclenching of his hands.
