New Year Memories
Well, the New Year (at least by how the majority of the mortals measured time) had started off well enough.   A year filled with promise and potential, what ifs and what might be's...

Asleif found her thoughts already trickling back over one of them... and one particular person...

Having locked in on her location, with less than a minute to go before midnight, Vincent appears at the Defenders compound, right next to Asleif.

"Well met, Lady Asleif." He grins at her, shifting to position himself facing her.

She wasn't surprised, or at least, if she was, she didn't show it. She smiled, and not one of her "some idiotic is getting what they deserve" smiles, but a true and genuinely happy one.

The ball drop had come several hours earlier at the Baxter Building, but he seemed to have timed out this detour just right.

"Three... two... one.." He chants quietly in time with a chorus in the background.

Then he leans in and kisses her on the cheek. "Happy New Year."

Chaster than she would have expected, and Asleif could not help but find herself slightly disappointed.

She did not let this show, however. "Happy New Year, my friend."

He smiles and nods his head. "I would advise continuing the trend."

Vincent takes a step back. "I merely wanted to stop in briefly. I wish you well this year as well, Asleif."

If there is nothing else, he will excuse himself as he came.

Vincent looks at her; the pause in her tone is disquieting. He is too polite to mention it however.

"Whenever you wish. School won't be back in session for a few weeks yet, so a day's notice should be sufficient."
