"I'll go first," Charlie said, gesturing for her to sit down.

"I really do like you, Toni," he said. "But like you know...I was gone for seven months. I wanted to think that you would be there when I came back, but honestly, there was a part of me that thought you might have moved on to someone else. Sure, we knew that we really liked each other, but we never really made things official.

Before you say anything, no, I didn't sleep with someone new or something like that in every time period we went too. I'm not like that, and you know it.

But, in the last dimension we visited, I went to a bar. I had a little bit more to drink than I normally do, and long story short, I ended up sleeping with someone else. Obviously, it didn't mean anything, and I felt terrible afterward, because even though we had never really made things official, I felt like I had cheated or something. I thought you moved on... but there was still some hope that you would wait for me."

Charlie paused, letting her take this all in.

"I'd like for us to move past this, even though it might be hard for us to do that. I understand perfectly if you think that isn't going to work out, and we can't work past this, whether you want to try and be friends, or if you if you want to think that I'm the scum of the earth and never talk to me again. I might not like you thinking of me as the scum of the earth, but I'll have to live with the consequences of my actions."
