He couldn't help the very faint smirk. He could read her reactions pretty well.

"Thanks. I made you breakfast." He stands up a little straighter. "I wasn't sure what you liked though so I went a little over board. Pan cakes, fresh melon, sausage, rye toast.... And a few other things."

Like bread pudding. Which was a perfectly acceptable breakfast food.
