He steps in as the door opens, leaning against the wall.
"There's something I needed to talk to you about. I think... I've reached a point where I'm ready to start dating again, and there is someone in particular I have in mind, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to cause a rift between us."
He clears his throat. "It's Asleif. She's stated that she's interested in being more than friends, and... I think I would like to also."
He looks up, realizing he'd let his gaze start to drop towards the floor. "I know you two didn't get on well and she said just about the worst things possible at that time, so... you can probably understand why I thought I should talk to you."
