Dammit! He was lying in wait! Pull back!
Kassia frantically reached out to her cousin and sister's minds the instant her spear was compromised. She hadn't expected her father to have advance warning and that, she realized was her failure. Now, instead of getting the jump on him and ending the game, she was flying backwards into the wall.
"Says you," she hissed just before her body made contact with the stone wall. She yelped at the impact, her body hitting with enough force that she seemed to bounce. Her head snapped forward and then back again, smashing into the wall with a force that produced a sick, heavy cracking sound.
"Ungh..." Kassia hit the ground with a thud and didn't move.
