It's a father's right to fudge things for his daughter. The doctors aren't sure how much of him they can rebuild. He thinks - knows - he can do more then they can, but all this takes time and there's no point in worrying Anya with prognosis reports that are going to be irrelevant anyway.
"I'm doing that already, Princess. I have a lot of spare time on my hands. Anyway, how are you?"
