Simon goes into two modes at parties. One is 'life of it,' in which case he shows off every smile and stupid cheesy line he's every learned and hams it up. Or he disappears, only reappearing only to fill empty cups, make sure the bake with 'simple assembly instructions' is actually assembled, and that the kids playing tag have a referee. The Gods are the bigger draw this party and he doesn't want to look like "dad" because that would be bad therefore he is in the kitchen, monitoring the coms and making root beer floats.
