Nicholas' empathy kicks in a moment too soon, warning him of her intent. He moves his arm out of the way, then lashes out with a kick to her stomach, making sure to avoid skin to skin contact.
"Your new boyfriend is a funny man, Tess. Full of himself, but funny. You're lucky though, I suggested we terminate you. Word from on high says they want you alive, still think they can get you back under leash and collar. At least til our bait here lures papa bear into the trap."
