Torn Ear's heart stops when he sees Rachel fall. Following David, he evades the machine and makes a prodigious leap. He has no time for relief when she stops, only pausing to change his stride to match her swinging.
He leaps for her, praying to the elder spirits that he has enough force to break the cable free now to get them both to safety.
