Very quickly Shelly muttered a few words her father had taught her a long time ago, a handy spell on how to cheat a little at tug of war though she had no idea how well it would work here, without her actually touching Matt. It was just a kiddie thing, after all. She turned toward him, though, and thrust out a hand before making the motion like she was drawing back a rope.
Meanwhile, Creepy Blonde Guy's words played loudly in her head. He was not going to be right about this. No way.
