He didn't know who they were, clearly Aesir, but aside from that, nothing. So when they came out of nowhere to his aid he was surprised, but didn't allow himself to become distracted. With help now at his side, his hopes to survive and return to his mother were renewed. He fought with a reborn fury against his traitorous kin.
