He's firm on that last, making sure that his hands don't stay too far for now, but he's happy to massage her back, working over her ribcage, then back up as different muscles loosen a bit under the pressure point massage. A little harder, perhaps, than a standard backrub, but ideal for loosening up tense and sore muscles.
