If anyone had expected the Bride to look regretful, she was going to disappoint them. It was not, as some of the group might have suspected, that she felt no remorse or pity for her actions. Rather, it was a combination of being at peace with a monster who killed monsters and having lived too long and dealt with too many other vampires, werewolves, and worse to believe that their conditions were anything more than a curse.
No matter how in control they suspected themselves, cursed individuals always eventually snapped and someone needed to clean up their mess. Better death than that.
So if an apology was expected, there would be a long wait.
Instead, her thoughts turned to more musing prospects. "So many unusual individuals in one place, one city," she said. "The supernatural has only grown in my long slumber."
