America (and apparently the Shi'ar Empire)'s Good Time Game!
For future reference for all involved, it is never considered a good idea to play Scrabble with a literate, well-read prince.  Board games have been the destruction of many a relationship, though this round had not quite progressed that far.  However, Rachel was definitely beginning to feel like a backwater hick by comparison.

She looked at the tiles that Starbridge had put down on the Scrabble board and frowned.  "That is so not a word."

Starbridge looked almost hurt. "It is, I swear. It's a musical instrument. A human musical instrument. I know it doesn't have any vowels, but the w is pronounced kind of like an 'au' in this context."

"Human word, huh?" Rachel asked. "...What country?"

"The instrument originated in Wales."

"Okay, yeah. They do seem to have a hatred for vowels."

She put down a few letters, chaining off the c in crwth to make cradle.

"We had an X-Man from there once, actually."

Starbridge used the d to make dregs. "What were they like?"

"Pretty, ah, excitable really. Megan was... kinda crazy. But she made the field team for a while, once she figured out how to do some teleporting."

Rachel followed by adding some letters to the g to get "gallon."

"It's a very good skill." And he manages to use one of those Ls to make 'lovely,' and smiles at her.

Rachel smiled in return. "How did you get so good at this?" she asked. She stared at her letters, before realizing she could make "vexing" out of the v.

He smiles. "I do not get out much."

"Oh," Rachel said. "Yeah. I guess you probably wouldn't..."

She smiled. "Still, you're whomping me at my first language here. That's pretty impressive."

He puts down 'axiom.' "Whomping. Now that is a word I have never heard before." He chuckles.

"It means, ah, beating badly," Rachel explained.

She stared at her letters and at the board, finally settling on "mini."

"Nonsense. You're doing very well, Radiant One."

Starbridge looks, then puts 'quilt.'

"I don't believe that for a second," Rachel said, "but I love hearing you say it."

She added some letters making it into "quilting."

And he smiles again. "While perhaps not the most proficient of the nerdy arts, Radiant One, you are fiercely intelligent and fun to be with, so I'm incredibly happy playing with you. Even without counting the view."

"View's pretty dang good from where I'm sitting too," Rachel told him.

God, she loved it when he called her 'Radiant One.' She really needed to find something comparable to call him.

"Excellent," Starbridge says, looking down with a slight blush before he uses the i to make 'kiss'

Apparently a very profitable hint, Radiant One.
