Someone staying back and guarding the door? Well, he had to assume they wouldn't be complete idiots. He's still trying to sneak past most of the guards to get to whatever is waiting for them inside, but that will require getting past this guy as quick as possible.
He tosses a smoke bomb, followed by a knockout gas grenade after pulling up his gask mask and low-light, going into the cloud to try and drop the guy fast and continue sneaking.
