"I really don't like playing this card, but you need to also look at the bigger picture. Your continued war will only continue to go so well-matched for so long. You'll whittle away your resources, strike alternating major victories, and maybe one of you will actually win your land-war.

More realistically? Outside forces interested in your planet's resources will see your diminished military forces as a sign of weakness, and move in to claim the assets for themselves.

If you don't have enough altruism to want to do the right thing for your planet as a whole, at least want to preserve your own resources."
