Technically there was another was to ensure Solver and Vernique were protected, but Svalin didn't see /that/ happening anytime soon. It would just add too much complication to an already complicated situation and one spouse was enough for now for both of them.
"I must do it. I couldst not live with mineself if something shouldst happen to thee or Solver. I wouldst sooner die before letting that happen again."
