Vlad gets out of the car and casually strolls towards the diner. He remembered David mentioning the place and it had certainly sounded good. Chili cheese fries, burgers and cute waitresses? Though he wouldn't flirt with said waitress, he just wanted to see who David had been talking about.
He's part of way there when he sees the masked men and the van. They seem to be taking someone away. If he was a classic superhero this would be the shirt ripping moment just before flying at the bad guys. As it is he just charges over. "Hey!"
