Aleron's little trick played more to Reed's favor than he might have anticipated. While Reed's body floated upward, he let his arms and fingers stretch. It allowed him to narrowly avoid the white noise blasts made by Andrea and still continue his work on the consoles.

With the sudden wavering of the shield, Reed found an unfortunate defeat he hadn't calculated. He had anticipate that Andrea would find a way to strike through it, being that Andrea had been equipped with everything she needed to do so when she was constructed. However, the downfall of the shield so early on wasn't in his planning. The sudden increase in the gravitational pull on Reed was more than he could lift himself from, and his brought him crashing to the ground.

This left the fight to Annihilus and his horde, and the turrets still firing that Reed had previously activated.
