Jack was quick, which Colin hadn't fully anticipated. He attempted to bring his left hand down to catch the club, but only managed to put his forearm between it and his midsection. That was going to bruise for sure.

Colin decided a cheap shot was in order to break the close quarters for the moment. He kicked at Jack's right thigh to try for time to back off a few feet.
