Detonite took the time the distraction gave him to stuff his pockets with odds and ends from his ammo pile and run out of Sengai's reach and hide in the panicking crowd. He figured the flatscan-lover would be reluctant to mow through humans. And the humans were too busy panicking and trying to escape the chaos of Times Square to do anything to him.
