Halbjorn hesitates. While skilled, he's not as good a raw strategic fighter as Svalin, and lacks Aridis' magic arrows or precision. His greatest strength is in his ferocity and muscle - and he can't wield those in full against Asgard, not without risking doing a lot more harm than intended. So he leaves the axe on his back, hefting another rock, hurling it ahead of him as distraction, trying to draw attention, but clearly not entirely in this fight.
