Halbjorn leaves his weapon where it is - he doesn't want to have the bloodaxe helping push him to frenzy here. Instead, he just dives at the guards nearest Svalin, giving her room to rush at their father... or maybe he's not... Halbjorn really isn't clear on any of this. But he trusts Svalin.
