Emily was quick, with very good reflexes. But those reflexes weren't ready to put to use if she didn't know the attack was coming. She was grabbed from behind, and she let out a yelp in pain. Her only saving grace was likely that she'd learned never to loosen her grip in a fight.
She jabbed at whatever had grasped her with the sword held by her tail, hoping she could cause it to let her go. If that didn't work, she really needed somebody to come and save her.
