Kael doesn't point out Hrinmeer's faulty assumptions. Knowledge, or lack thereof, can be power depending on the person. The flames would have blinded a full-blooded elf, but it gave Kael enough time to shield his eyes. Kael brought his swords up to block the Flame's blade. Kael knew Hrinmeer was strong, but not THAT strong. The blow sends Kael back, despite blocking the blow. His swords even steamed a little from where the swords had been struck. Okay, strength against strength wouldn't work here. Instead Kael went with speed, hoping to distract the Flame and give the mortal who was aiding him a chance to strike.
