The blasts of light provide very brief moments of illumination, and a lot of noise. He also gets a vague impression off of Nicolai - trying to make a point to himself not to use that abbreviation again.
Secondary concern though. Hearing the movement his way, he ducks, the blast singing him a bit, but mostly going over his head as he swings, trying to bury his energy shield's edge into Grog's gut before backing away to wait for another opening, while trying to create shots for Nicolai.
