Unknown to Jack his assailant had shifted from a man in a trench coat to into a silvery, genderless form. It observes Jack's actions, as it had for months, and leaped in the air. Silver strands shot from the figure's arms in close imitation of Jack. It knew one of its compatriots was busy within with her own target, so it needed to keep Jack outside. When it caught a glimpse of him, it shot another strand of silver rope out to ensnare Jack's foot in mid-air.
