The base was surrounded by a dome of magnetic force of crackling energy, masking everything inside with a sinister glow. More conventional respondents were still some time away, the nearest other base too far to mobilize from quickly. For the moment, the Genoshans were alone outside it. The X-Men were still a bit out themselves, even with their supersonic Shi'ar tech-powered jet.
Under Sengai's leeching, the field began to react, energy from other parts of it shoring up the fault, but weakening overall. It was obviously not being consciously maintained..
