Vernique
Vernique and Svalin share central concern about their son, but Vernique thinks differently. Though she's lived more than once now the nightmare of temporarily losing Solver, some things -- perhaps because they keep getting him back -- are too implausible for her subconscious mind to embrace them in horror.
But some things her brain finds more plausible.
Vernique stirs, finding herself sitting on one of those nice-but-not-comfy chairs you get in the fancier parts of Asgard. She tries to remember why they're in Asgard. She can't recall a particular occasion that required going. But here she is, sitting in the chair in one of her Asgard dresses, with her Married Lady Brooches -- they look a little tarnished. That's weird. She never lets any of her jewelry get tarnished, and she's particularly proud of these.
