Why do I always end up talking about things I don't want to?
Coffee machine problems yet again. Sigh. Well that meant venturing out of the lab, and to communal coffee maker to see if there was anything in there, as terrible as the coffee usually was. But a girl had to have her caffeine. So...

	Cornered. There was no polite way to say 'Actually I'd rather not talk somewhere because these things are always painfully awkward and anyway I hate talking about stuff like this'. She was very glad to have her cup of coffee. Something to look at or occupy herself with, or even hide her expressions just slightly. Ah she sucked at these talks. "Well umm..." She shrugged, not sure what her line was supposed to be. He wanted to say something, she didn't really want to have to talk, it seemed straightforward enough. Though what and how she was supposed to respond to what he might say...she was at a loss for.

"What I want to say is..you're my best friend. No matter what else is happening, I don't want to lose that. I'm always going to care about you, but..but what matters more to me is to have you in my life," he said, trying to convey his sincerity. "I miss our daily banter. I miss having coffee together. Hell, I even miss you dragging me off to do embarrassing things. I miss..us. Whatever capacity you want that to be, I'll accept it, but that friendship means everything to me."

She sipped her coffee and paused. Okay, so perhaps she hadn't expected that. But in a way it was...a relief? She liked having Josh as a friend, and she'd thought she'd screwed up and lost that. "So...you're not pissed off or whatever emotion, at me enough that you've cut all ties? Or would understandably like to?" Because she may have been thinking that had or was going to happen.
