With a few exceptions, even Eternals must obey the laws of physics, and Thanos in this instance is no exception. The Terran does catch him by surprise, and the force of Azura's blow is sufficient. He falls backwards.

He keeps his grip on Godslayer, however, attempting to wrest it from his granddaughter's hands. For good measure, he lets loose a pulse of energy with both hands, and it cascades out around him. He has no doubt the sword can take the punishment, but he is eager to learn if the other combatants can.
