Lucas makes sure to give the family some bonding time after the permission was asked and granted. Sooner or later he needs to ask Rahne too, as mothers' permission is also important, but it can wait. There's another matter he needs to address before the year goes much further.
Inviting the family to dinner, which he's cooked, including a number of both girls' favorites, and making sure the parents understood he was capable of being conversant in wolf, so they were welcome to speak as they were most comfortable with, he eventually settles in. After basic niceties and a blessing he hopes won't offend the Asgardians, he finally gets around to the pressing topic.
"Danielle - I've been meaning to speak to you, but a lot has been going on. Unfortunately, I can't wait much longer to bring this up, but its probably just as well your family is here."
