A Meeting with Royalty
Julian Gallio found himself with a lot of time to think after his meeting with Viveca, and decided that another meeting was in order. After watching the tapes, he decided to change gears in his plan.

He'd spent the next day or so trying to arrange a meeting with Emma Frost or Roberto DaCosta, and surprise, Emma's people responded first. Julian introduced himself as a "the son of a friend" in his message, though he knew that Selene and Emma co-operated as long as during their acquaintance in the Hellfire Club. Selene warned him that the White Queen's mind was a doubly deadly weapon that could easily spell doom for his plans...but she also conceded that Emma was an advantageous ally to have if he wanted to become a member.

So it was that Julian accepted Emma's offer to meet at the Popular Outcast and talk over business.

When Emma arrives, she is ushered to the back of the club by Paulo, Julian's Spaniard assistant, and she'll note the polished tables, the dancing cages for the younger crowd, and the large dance floor. It's easy to tell that this club caters to the younger elite crowd, and the Grand Opening is tomorrow night.

Paulo approaches the door ahead of Emma, and quickly speaks inside. "Mr. Howard, Miss Frost has arrived."

"Escort her in, Paulo. Don't make her wait!" Julian says, as if the man should have known this already.

When Emma enters, Julian rises and comes around the front of his onyx desk, his expression neutral. He extends a hand quickly as Paulo waits for further instruction.

"Miss Frost, thank you for meeting with me today. I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to do so." he says. "Paulo, please bring a cup of coffee for me, and Miss Frost whatever she likes."

He stopped a moment and allowed Emma to choose her beverage, if any.

"Coffee, please," Emma said. Despite being who she was, she prided herself on having impeccable manners.

She waited for the servant to leave before getting to business with her host.

Paulo nodded and walked out, closing the door behind him. Julian did not take his eyes from Emma's, however, waiting a beat before speaking.

"He's usually quick with the coffee. In the interest of not having you interrupted, we should wait until he returns." Julian says. Certainly enough, Paulo returns with coffee, creamer, and sweetener less than a minute later, after knocking again.

"Thank you, Paulo." Julian says as the coffee tray is set on the serving table to his left, Emma's right. Paulo then leaves again, closing the door behind him.

His eyes turned back to Emma.

"Effcient," she commented and she sipped the black coffee. Kona blend if she had to guess. Very good. "You either pay him very well or took a long time to train him."

He smiles as he pours himself a cup and adds two creams.

"I've known Paulo for a bit. He's loyal...and I pay him well." Julian quipped. He pulled out the chair at the head of the desk for Emma. Once she was seated, he would take his seat on the other side of the desk, closing his sleek, black laptop. Emma would also notice a book case on the North wall, with a couch in front of it.

"Again, thank you for coming today, Miss Frost. I appreciate your willingness to meet with me. I'd like to talk to you about a couple of business ventures that I have in mind." he says.

"Go on," she ordered as she enjoyed her coffee. It was rather good. "But before you do, let me warn you that this better be worth my time."

The wind up...and the pitch.

"I want to join the Hellfire Club. Now, you've heard that before, millions of times, but it's more than a status symbol to me. My mother is the Selene, the Black Queen. Some would say former, but I won't go into that. The point is, I'm looking to join both to benefit myself, and those who are willing to deal with me." he said.

"I propose to do this in several ways. This club is a small one. I also have the idea of...addressing the issue of mutant/human relations through the use of television. A reality show based on a group of mutants who 'fight the good fight' as it were.

A group of mutants who could be to our people what the Avengers are to humans." he says. He let that lay for a moment before continuing.

"The closer these politicians get to pushing this crazy idea of registration down everyone's throats, the harder it will become for mutant rights to be addressed. A team of mutants working with the government to address issues between mutants and humans stands a better chance of garnering support to help out other mutant causes." he said.

He was gambling a great deal on his belief that Emma's affiliation with the X-Men put her in the camp that would like to see this anti-mutant registration defeated.

"If this causes humans to think about mutants as people and consider that their elected leaders pushing for invasion of people's rights are in the wrong, I see a great deal that can be accomplished.

My other idea has to do with Genosha. I'm of the belief that I can forge an inroad with Magneto that others do not have. Frost Industries being able to do business where Shaw Industries doesn't leads to a market of untapped resources.

Having a link to the ear of his heir probably doesn't hurt either.

Have I wasted your time?" he asked. He was lucky she couldn't hear his surface thoughts, but if she chose to dig, she would understand that he believed in all he was setting out to accomplish.

She would also know that he understood how much of a risk he was taking going to the person often stood across from Sebastian Shaw on the direction of the Club.

Emma was silent for awhile and sipped her coffee. The kid was ambitious, there was no doubt about that. However, there was such a thing as too ambitious.

She carefully considered his propositions and her own stance on mutant-human relations.

"They are interesting propositions. Most certainly."

He sipped his coffee as she pondered his ideas. He vehemently wished that he'd inherited his mother's telepathic ability right now, but he could only work with what he had. He knew that what he was suggesting was ambitious, a tall order for even the most experienced to fill, but Julian knew that he could succeed.

"Granted, I don't expect all of this to come to fruition overnight, or even in a single year. But I am taking steps to reach these goals, along with cultivating other areas of interest for myself." he says, taking another sip of coffee.

"I seek success, Miss Frost. I seek to make a name for myself, and I will. I also seek alliances with those whose views parallel my own." he says.

"So what is it exactly do you want from me, Mr. Gallio?" Outside of sponsorship into the Hellfire Club, but she'd give that anyway. This kid was Selene's son and Emma would do anything that would get under Selene's skin. Especially if the kid became Emma's protege.

"Your sponsorship into the Hellfire Club would be helpful, for one. Now, I have spoken to Viveca VanRoehm to put her mind at ease about me. She thought I was out to do to her what my mother did to her father apparently. She'll speak up for me, I think, but I'd like to learn from you, Miss Frost." he said. There were some things Selene wouldn't teach him, saying that he needed to learn them on his own.

She'd suggested Emma as the proper teacher.

"You also have connections in areas that may allow us to get the idea for this team off the ground. If I could meet with someone who could see this vision for what it is, I think I can sell it." he says.

"I do have an off-topic question, however. Does Benedict Kine serve your interests as White Rook?"

"Kine serves as the White Rook well enough," Emma responded. She sipped her coffee. "One thing at a time, Mr. Gallio. I will sponsor your membership and be willing to teach you. Then we will see about your idea for a team."

"Very well, Miss Frost. I understand." Julian says, sipping his coffee. So, he would need to move slower for now. He could live with that.

"The Popular Outcast is opening soon, Miss Frost. You're more than welcome to attend, of course." he says.

"In the meantime, is there anything I should work on before I meet with the others?" he asked.

"Thank you for the invitation," she said with a small smile. "As for what you should work on, when you go there, be who you want to eventually be."

"A woman of your caliber brings class to any establishment she graces with her presence. I look forward to working with you, Miss Frost." Julian says.

"Can I get you more coffee?" he asks, smiling a little himself.

"You're welcome. Please have a pleasant day." he says, rising.

He will open the door for her and walk her out of the club and to her car. Once she's safely inside, he heads back into to the club to get ready for the last bit of preparation before opening night.
