He's not taking any protests right now. In her condition, she has to be seen by a doctor. There's plenty of problems associated with that, sure, but his first concern is her, right now.
Once they assure him there's someone on the way, he just sits by the bed, holding her hand and waiting, wishing he'd been a little faster, a little better, or had real powers that didn't need a magic wand waved at him first.
This is all his fault.
