Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry

Walden knew it was probably a little too soon for him to really be thinking about switching to a school closer to where Romey lived, but he was top of his class at home and he'd been invited to check out some more prestigious colleges than the one he was currently enrolled in. There was nothing wrong with going to London and checking out an open house, especially when it met he'd be able to surprise Romy with a visit and see if she was as into him as the texting and everything suggested.

He showed up at the college, glancing around at the boards they had set up talking about student success rates and how many people got into top ten schools, but was distracted by a familiar face. One he didn't really get along with, but they were looking at each other and it just seemed awkward not to say anything. Walden cleared his throat and walked over to Pyxis. "Hello."

"I usually get the Golden Burger. It's a vegan steak patty with this special sauce they make up. And I just tell them to run it through the garden." Pyxis admitted. "They're probably already making it. We should get spring rolls too. I'll buy. Get whatever you want. My parents are loaded."

Pyxis took the soda from the server and took the wrapper off her straw, looking at Walden. "I know you really like her. And I can respect that. Rider really likes her too. I don't know what it is about her that guys want, something I obviously don't have. But just... Romy really likes meat. She loves bacon and sausage and steak. She once entered a contest with your Dad to see who could eat the most steak and she actually won. The problem with girls like Romy is that they mold their personality to fit whatever the boy they fancy is looking for. She's like a fucking siren or something."

Walden felt a bit uncomfortable letting Pyxis pay, but he nodded in agreement, ordering himself a water and the same burger Pyxis was getting. "You can enjoy eating meat and still have ethical issues with it," he said, shrugging. "I don't think Romy is like that. She's sweet. She just wants to be able to be herself."

He pursed his lips for a moment. "Maybe we should stay off the topic of my girlfriend, since I know the two of you don't get along. Neither of you is likely to have an unbiased view of the other."

"Walden. I know you like her, but you don't even know her." Pyxis shook her head and looked him over. "I'm not saying anything about her because I don't like her. I've tried to be her friend and she just doesn't like me because Rider and I have been really close since we were kids. She's jealous of the fact that I have him."

She took a sip of her soda. "I'm just saying. How long did you know her before you agreed to date her? She's never had a boyfriend and it's kind of weird that you look exactly like her father."

Walden frowned a little at that. "I know I look like her step-father, but we didn't grow up together. I like her. She likes me. We're in the process of really getting to know each other. That's how dating works when you're not with someone you've known your whole life."

This was why he'd suggested not talking about Romy. "You can't tell me your opinions are unbiased. The two of you don't get along. Of course your opinions about her are biased."

Pyxis frowned at his assumption. "Being biased would only matter if I was trying to fuck you right now or wanted you to be my boyfriend. I'm trying to help you out and make you see that she's not this pretty princess and sweet girl that you've made her out to be."

She shook her head and frowned down at the table. "I'm sure you'd let her say whatever she wanted about me. I'm sure you've heard every bad thing about me there was to say. Whatever. Just eat your fucking food when it gets here and I'll leave you alone for the rest of the day."
