It was very obvious that Lucius was working later and later and more hours a week than he normally had. Evan understood that Lucius had an important job and that he was also checking in on Merlin a bit and taking him groceries. Evan was thankful for this, of course, but he missed his husband. He was spending all his time alone in a flat because Rowan had decided he'd be staying with his mother. And Evan didn't have children of his own.

He was sitting alone and sulking to himself, reading a magazine he wasn't actually interested in when Luciius came in. Evan was unsure if he should even try to touch him. The last few times he'd tried to be intimate, the other man had told him he was tired and immediately went to bed. Evan ran his eyes over him, then looked back down at his magazine, feeling like bursting.

Lucius smiled at Merlin. It was nice to know he was wanted. He combed his fingers through Merlin's hair, kissing him again. "I don't deserve your affection, but I'll take it."

He pressed Merlin close to his chest, kissing him again. He ran his hands slowly up and down the boy's back. "I do want you, Merlin, but nineteen years is a long time to be with someone and have it end."

"I know." Merlin told him quietly. "But, there was obviously unhappiness there if you wanted to be with me in the first place. You must have needed something different."

He leaned in and kissed him again. "Do you still want to be with Evan?"

Lucius sighed when Merlin asked that question. "We hadn't been intimate for a while before I started sleeping with you," he told him. "I love Evan. I hate that I lost him and that I broke him the way I did. But I don't know what I want anymore."

He rolled onto his back, pulling Merlin onto his chest. "I think it might be you. I haven't been able to stay away for more than a day or so. I liked taking you out for lunch."

Merlin liked that Lucius had taken him for lunch. He nodded. "I liked going out to lunch with you as well. It was nice." He told him. "Even if you wouldn't let me pay."

He brushed his lips against Lucius's chest. "Let's get you out of your clothes and into some pajamas. You had some clothes left over here."

"Of course I wouldn't let you pay. I make more money than you do. You'll be able to buy me lunch one day, but for now it's my treat," Lucius said, shaking his head and smiling at Merlin. "Your stubbornness is endearing."

He sat up, stripping off his shirt. "Get me whatever sleep clothes I left here. You probably have plans for tomorrow and I'm keeping you up. Only a couple more days before school starts."
