The first day of school. Pansy knew that Draco wasn't feeling up to it, but she wanted to get him out and about. And he couldn't skip the first day of school. It was kind of required. She'd managed to get him into the car, which was a big step for him. Even if she knew that he was going through a lot, she still thought he was being a baby.

"Come on, Draco darling. It's not that bad." Pansy told him. "I doubt you even have any classes with him. Right, Theo?"

Draco sighed, looking between the two of them. Pansy was petting him and telling him she loved him and not budging one bit about him skipping the first day or school. "All right," he agreed. "I'm already in uniform and in the car. There's not much I can do to escape it now." He leaned against Pansy. "Except maybe request to transfer to a different school, but I have a feeling Mum would say no."

Theo glanced out the window as his car pulled up outside the school. "Nobody is going to know anything is wrong unless you and Merlin tell them." He got out of the car, waiting for the other two. "You're new to college. Try to enjoy it."

	Pansy got out of the car and held onto Draco's hand, looking up at their college. It looked nice, as she thought it would. She turned to look at Draco, squeezing his hand. "We have Maths first. Draco eyed Pansy for a moment before he nodded in agreement. "I'm going to hold you to that promise," he warned her. "No backing out of it." He looked down at their hands for a moment, then sighed. "All right. Let's go find the maths classroom and hide in there until class starts."

Theo took out his phone, texting Merlin to ask where he was. "I'm sure you'll be fine. Do you want me to show me where your room is?" he asked, looking up at them.

	"You are my boyfriend. You have to walk me to class." Pansy hooked her arm through Theodore's and smiled. "Are people going to think I'm super special and popular for being your girlfriend?" Merlin got out of his car and looked down at his phone, then texted Theodore back to tell him where he was. He looked up, running into Draco. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Theodore laughed at that. "I'm going to think you're super special," he told her. "I'll tell everyone in my classes how wonderful you are. That will help them pick up on it." His phone beeped and he looked down to check it, but it was too late to stop the collision from happening.

Draco stared at Merlin for a long moment after he ran into him. Pansy would definitely let him go home now, right? Still. He didn't want to be the one who looked petty. He tightened his grip on his bag. "Hello."

	This was not the situation that Draco wanted to be in. And Merlin certainly didn't want to be either. He bit the inside of his jaw and nodded at Draco. "Hello. I wasn't sure you were coming." "It's school," Draco pointed out. He wasn't going to let Merlin chase him out of school. Merlin had already fucked up enough stuff for him be screwing his father and just... not being the person Draco wanted him to be. He reached out and took Pansy's hand in his. "I'd say it was nice to see you, but it wasn't. Come on, Pansy. Let's get to class." He turned away from Merlin, tugging Pansy along behind him.

Theodore watched Draco dragging his girlfriend off and then looked back at Merlin. "I was texting you to see if we could avoid this. Sorry it didn't work out that way," he said, sighing. "How are you?"

	Pansy sighed softly and squeezed Draco's hand. "I'm sorry that happened. I really am." She pressed a kiss to Draco's cheek, following behind him. "I'm sure that Theodore is sorry as well." "It's not your fault. It was probably inevitable," Draco said, feeling miserable. "You're right. I need to be here for the first day of school. I can't hide from him. If anything, he should be the one hiding. He's the one who fucked my father behind my back."

"I've been waiting to hear your side of the story," Theodore told Merlin, glancing after Pansy and Draco. "I know you and Pansy don't get along so I'm not sure I should completely trust her side of things. What happened?"

"Draco. Careful what you say in the open." Pansy warned him quietly as she looked around. "That is the last thing you want to get in the papers for. It would humiliate you."

"That's where you're wrong. Pansy hates me. She'll give you the truth. She hates me enough that she thinks everything I do, down to the detail, is the worst thing I could ever do. She doesn't think it needs bells and whistles." He pointed out and then shrugged. "I've been sleeping with Lucius Malfoy for a month or so now."

Draco nodded, running a hand through his hair. "I know," he said. "But it's going to come out eventually, Pans. As far as I can tell, they're living together now. When I went to break up with him, my father was there. I punched him, actually. I think I drew blood. Everything up until I got alcohol in me is all a bit of a blur after that. I'm not sure if I told you or not."

Theo opened his mouth to respond to that, then closed it, frowning a bit. A month was about how long it had been since Merlin had gotten kicked out of his house. "Was something wrong?" he asked, looking at Merlin. Something must have been wrong. Theo was trying to be on Merlin's side here, but shagging your boyfriend's father was pretty bad. "With your relationship?"

"Well. You'll come out looking like the stronger person." Pansy assured him, shaking her head. "They're going to see what a slut Merlin is and you'll look like the poor victim and people will respect you for that."

"That is where my opinion and Draco's opinion butt heads." Merlin replied with a sigh. "I had gotten this job at a fast food restaurant. And Draco was horrid about it. He started complaining about me not taking hand outs and that I smelled bad when I came home because I was working to keep a roof over my head. I was upset about it or whatever. And Lucius came over and it just... kind of happened."

"People will pity me, you mean," Draco said, frowning. He stopped walking, leaning against the wall and looking up at Pansy. "I just wished he'd done it with someone else. Anyone else. That way I could forgive him and maybe we could get back together. I still love him and it's not fair. I feel like I've been waiting my whole life for the two of us to get together and now it's never going to happen."

Theo thought about that for a moment. It was still cheating his his boyfriend's father, which was an awful thing to do to anyone, but he'd had a reason for it. He nodded. "That makes sense. You were in a horrible position anyway and he just made you feel worse about it. It's understandable."

"Charlie's probably at work," Draco pointed out, glancing at his watch. "I assume he has to go in and look after the dinosaurs at some point. He's probably sick of me showing up out of the blue by now anyway. Let's go to class. It's the first day. We should at least make it to one of our classes."

Theo nodded in agreement, patting Merlin on the shoulder. "Good idea," he said. "Don't want to be late on our first day. At least you won't have any classes with him, right?" He glanced at Merlin. "How difficult do you think being your friend while also dating Pansy is going to be? I quite like her."
