The first day of school. Pansy knew that Draco wasn't feeling up to it, but she wanted to get him out and about. And he couldn't skip the first day of school. It was kind of required. She'd managed to get him into the car, which was a big step for him. Even if she knew that he was going through a lot, she still thought he was being a baby.

"Come on, Draco darling. It's not that bad." Pansy told him. "I doubt you even have any classes with him. Right, Theo?"

	Pansy ran her fingers through her hair. It was the end of the day and Draco had made it through all their classes together. She was waiting for him outside her last class, leaning against the wall. Merlin didn't like that he had Chemistry with Draco, but what could he do? He chewed at his bottom lip. "I'm sorry that he paired us for labs." (Reply to this)(Thread)

Draco could have handled having Chemistry with Merlin if he hadn't also been paired with him for labs. At least he knew Merlin didn't want them paired together anymore than he did. He shook his head as he gathered his things, putting them in his bag. "It's not your fault. People don't know what happened between us this summer. They all assume we're friends."

He looked up at Merlin. Being around him hurt. Draco was mad at him, but he still had all these residual feelings for him anyway and it wasn't fair. "Chemistry is my best class. I'm not going to let my personal life interfere with my grades."

Draco was pretty sure he could have taken Merlin saying anything else to him. Any other stupid platitudes he wanted to say to try and fix things between them, but of course he'd gone with love. Draco reached out and pushed him because he wasn't sure what else to do about all the feelings he was having.

"Stop it," he snapped. "Stop trying to make things better. They're not going to get better, Merlin. Not for a long time. You think it's easy for me to be around you after what you did to me? You can't even fucking imagine because if you could then you wouldn't be in my face, telling me you love me, when it's so obviously, so painfully, not true. Part of me is still fucking in love with you and I want to cry every time someone mentions you to me so just fuck off!"

	Merlin wasn't even sure what he wanted to do with all that information. He did love Draco. He was in love with Draco, but all the bad blood between them had ruined everything. Especially now with his father involved. He glanced around the empty room, then grabbed Draco and pushed him back against the wall, pressing their lips together and kissing him deeply. 	Draco had no idea what was happening. One minute he was yelling at Merlin, then next he was being pushed against a wall and kissed by him. Draco kissed back for a moment, almost on reflex, and then realized what he was doing. He turned his head against from Merlin, pushing at him. "Stop it. You're just going to hurt me again." Merlin shook his head and looked back at Draco. "You love me. I know that you do. Why can't we just be together?" He asked him, shaking his head again. He did love Draco. He loved him more than he'd even realised.

"Please." Merlin closed his eyes and pressed close to him. "I..." He pulled away from him and fought back tears. "Okay. I'm sorry." He left the room quickly, starting to tear up.

Pansy watched Merlin walk down the hall, then looked into the room. "Draco?"

Draco slid down the wall when Merlin left, pressing shaking hands against his eyes. He was not going to go after Merlin. You couldn't just forgive someone for cheating on you with your father and breaking your parents up. Not without losing all self-respect.

He looked up when he heard Pansy's voice. "He kissed me and told me he loved me." Draco took a deep, shaky breath, closing his eyes as he tried to regain self-control. He was not going to cry over Merlin this time. "It's not fair." Draco rubbed at his face, then looked at Pansy again. "Can we go look at the dinosaurs?"

	Pansy frowned at that and walked in, pulling Draco up from the floor. "We can look at all the dinosaurs you want. Anything to make you not think about kissing that flea bag again." *** Pansy sat down on one of the benches in the museum, taking a glance around. "What is it you see in this place?" "What do you mean?" Draco asked, squeezing Pansy's hand in his and looking up at the huge skeleton in front of them. He was feeling a bit better already. "I like the dinosaurs. I like how even when there's a million people around they're all too busy looking at the exhibits to pay any attention to me. I like that there are always quiet pockets where you can have some peace even on busy days."

He glanced at her and smiled a bit. "My mum and Thor used to bring me here a lot when I was a kid, so there's that too. Plus, I like one of the curators, but that's new."

"I know I am," Draco said. "Charlie told me, and he got off with some blond in tight clothes at the club the other night. But he's also said he's not going to do anything about me being his type."

Draco looked up at Charlie, trying not to focus on Pansy's words because Pansy was evil. "It was all right until the end of the day," he said. "Merlin and I got paired up as lab partners in Chemistry and then after class he pushed me against the wall and kissed me."

He ran a hand through his hair and shook his head. "It's going to be even worse being partnered with him now."

Looking at dinosaur things other people hadn't seen yet seemed like a good way to get his mind off the rubbish he was currently stuck with. "Yeah, I'd love to." Draco got to his feet, glancing at Pansy. "Pans, are you going to come with us?"

Draco was pretty sure Pansy had left him in hopes that he'd try and fuck Charlie or something, but he did his best to look like someone who didn't want to shag Charlie as he turned to smile at him. "That sounds wicked. Why wouldn't you get funding?"

He paused for a moment, considering the matter of funding for a moment. "How much do you need? I don't know if you know this, but my family has money and my father sort of owes me, since he shagged my boyfriend. He donates tons of money every year for tax purposes anyway."

Charlie laughed at Draco a bit. "Well. Sometimes the funding just doesn't come in. And it's quite a bit of money. I would never ask someone who wasn't a large corporation to donate for an exhibit."

He smiled at Draco. "If we can't get the funding, perhaps we can set something up with your father then." He walked into his office and held up some pictures for Draco to look at. "What do you think?"

"He runs a large corporation," Draco said, shrugging. "He runs a few, actually." It was good to know that Charlie wasn't being nice to him because of his family's money. Evidently he wasn't aware that Draco stood to inherit billions and had a very hefty trustfund besides that.

He looked at the pictures Charlie held up, smiling and taking one of them from Charlie. "They look like they could hatch at any moment," he said, leaning against the corner of Charlie's desk. "Do you know what kind of eggs they are?"

"You might have a problem when the baby dinosaur grew up. I've seen Jurassic Park," Draco said, laughing. He handed the photo back to Charlie. "I hope you get the eggs. They look amazing. If you have trouble with funding, tell me. I may have punched him, but my father definitely still owes me."

He looked around Charlie's office, feeling nosy. At least this was something to focus on that wasn't Merlin. "You're lucky. This place is amazing."
