Merlin was very, very tired, but he wanted to be good for Draco. He was carrying a bag of leftovers from the diner he was working in. Fish and chips and some chocolates to make Draco happy. He also had a small bouquet of flowers that he had some money left over for.

He walked into the flat and smiled at Draco, holding up the bags and the flowers. "I'm home. Sorry I'm a little late. We had to clean the grease trap."

"Some American reality show. It was terrible," Draco said, shaking his head. "American rich people have absolutely no taste. This woman had seven or eight waterfalls in her backyard."

He ate some of his chips. Being grown up sounded scary, but he'd been all right moving in with Charlie. "What is it on? History is so dull. I wish Oxford and Cambridge cared about them less."

Draco laughed at that. "Does that count as history?" he asked. "That's terrible. At least you know how to please her though. I'm assuming it's a her."

He took a bite of his fish, shaking his head. "Binns is boring, but at least he teaches actual history. Do you want me to come say hello to you in class? I'll mention that my parents went to their wedding or something. Boost your grade."

Merlin couldn't help but laugh at Draco's suggestion. "It's a female, yes. But, apparently her husband is just as obsessed as she is. And she wants me to write about how I think the new royal baby is going to be when he's older."

He looked Draco over. "Honestly, I hope that the baby has like... an emo phase or something. Just shows up to functions with piercings and eyeliner." He leaned in and kissed Draco. "Do you think that would actually boost my grade?"

Draco kissed Merlin back. "It might," he said. "My mother has pictures, I think. You could take them in to show your teacher as a special treat for her and her husband. It won't hurt your grade to suck up a little."

He shrugged. "My mother's had me give Christmas presents to my teachers since I was small. It always helps. And I'm in Chemistry with you because my parents know Snape and have convinced him that I'm so keen on the subject I'm planning to study it at university or something."

	Merlin knew that his father had always wanted him to be super successful at everything, but he didn't push as hard as Draco's parents did. And Draco wasn't even that academically smart. Draco was sort of amused that Merlin added the part about having Merlin for a partner helping things, but he nodded. "It'll look good on my applications to have a course taken early and Chemistry is one of my best classes."

He shrugged. "I'm still not sure I know exactly what I want to do, but going to a good university will help. I have time to decide. Charlie said he thought I could be a publicist or a manager for actors. Or curate an art museum. I'd be able to boss people around for a living that way."

	Merlin didn't like thinking about Charlie and how Draco had been with him. He frowned a bit. "I don't think we should talk about Charlie. And you shouldn't be a curator.
