Thoreau wasn't sure he knew how to handle the way his life was going now. He wasn't on drugs. He hardly drank. He never missed his classes and he actually studied for his tests and did his homework because it just... seemed like the thing to do. His uncle's death was hard, but Rex seemed happy in America in his emails, and Rex being away meant that Thoreau couldn't slip up and go out partying with him.

Everything was good. Nice. Just... maybe a little bit... boring. Thoreau closed his book after reading the same sentence three times. "Do I really need A-levels to open a restaurant?" he asked, looking across the room at Rooney.

Thoreau kind of wondered if this was a test. If he was supposed to tell Rooney that he didn't need more excitement in his life or something. He leaned in and kissed Rooney for a long moment. "I love you too," he said, leaning into Rooney's touch.

"Do you really mean that, or is this some kind of test?" he asked, after a moment. "I don't want to fail a test. I don't want to make you unhappy with me."

"It's not a test, love. It's just me giving something that you need." Rooney ran his fingers through Thoreau's hair and kissed him tenderly. He loved him so much. The last thing he wanted was for Thoreau to get bored with him.

"Wouldn't that make you happy?" Rooney asked as he looked back at Thoreau. "You could be with anyone you want, but only once. Never more than once. And you always have to come home. But, no drugs. And no letting your grades slip."

Thoreau still felt a bit worried that this was a test. He leaned against Rooney, looking up at him. Would sleeping with other people make him happy? Not because he got to sleep with them. Only because it would mean being able to go out like he used to.

"I'd never take drugs," he promised. "And I'd always come home to you. Maybe. Maybe it would work. You're so good to me, Roo." Thoreau kissed Rooney again. "What do you need? What can I give you?"

Rooney wasn't crazy about the idea, personally. But, he wasn't going to hold that against Thoreau. It was fine. He was used to a different kind of lifestyle. At least with Rex gone, it was going to be safer for him to be out. No negative influences.

"I'll go out with you tonight. You don't have to give me anything." Rooney shook his head, then pet at Thoreau again. "Just... don't fall for anyone else."

Thoreau smiled at Rooney. "Of course not," he said, leaning into the other boy's touch. "There's no one else who's as good for me as you are. I love you."

Thoreau had kind of missed clubbing. Not the part where he got in trouble if he had too much fun, but the dancing and all the people and they way he could get men to look at him. They didn't know he was boring yet. He grinned, running a hand through his hair and leaning against Rooney's arm. "I love going out. I forgot I start doing it because it was fun. Not because I wanted to get high."

This wasn't really Rooney's kind of scene. He would rather be at a pub where there were a lot less flashy lights and a more... mature looking crowd. But, he wanted to make Thoreau happy.

"Yeah. Getting high just makes you forget all the fun you had." Rooney told him, then brushed their lips together. "Do you see anyone yet? Anyone catch your eye?"

Thoreau was happy. He could dance and he could have a couple of drinks, but not too much. He could even dance with other people. "I don't know. I haven't done that much looking yet."

He glanced over his shoulder, smiling when he caught a very cute looking boy around his own age looking at him. "Maybe him," Thoreau said, holding the gaze and smiling at the other boy. "He doesn't look like a murderer."

"There will be no murdering tonight. I'll keep an eye out for you." Rooney told him and smiled, pushing his shoulder towards the boy. "Go on. I'll be around if you need me." He leaned against the bar.

Liam was just a little tipsy. It was his first night out at a club like this and he was having fun, but no one was really looking at him. When he did catch someone looking at him, he was very flattered by it.

Thoreau was kind of nervous, honestly. He'd never tried to pick someone up with his boyfriend watching before. It was nerve-wracking. He smiled at the other boy as he moved closer to him, reaching out and touching his arm.

"Hey," he said. Rooney really wasn't jealous of this? Thoreau would have been throwing a fit. "Do you want to dance?"

Liam looked at Thoreau for a moment, then smiled. He'd thought he'd been with the other man, but apparently not. "I... Yeah. Okay." He told him, then slid his hand into Thoreau's.

"I've never come out to a club before." He admitted as they walked towards the dance floor.

"Really?" Maybe Thoreau should have been trying for a less sweet looking boy to try and hook up with. He didn't want to end up leading someone new to all of this on. "How do you like it so far?"

He smiled and pressed closer to Liam, wrapping an arm around him as they started to dance together. "I love dancing and going out."

"It's fun, so far. But, not a lot of people are paying attention to me." Liam admitted, then pressed closer to Thoreau. This would be nice. He could dance with a boy.

"Is that your boyfriend?" He asked, glancing at the large man at the bar.
