Thoreau wasn't sure he knew how to handle the way his life was going now. He wasn't on drugs. He hardly drank. He never missed his classes and he actually studied for his tests and did his homework because it just... seemed like the thing to do. His uncle's death was hard, but Rex seemed happy in America in his emails, and Rex being away meant that Thoreau couldn't slip up and go out partying with him.

Everything was good. Nice. Just... maybe a little bit... boring. Thoreau closed his book after reading the same sentence three times. "Do I really need A-levels to open a restaurant?" he asked, looking across the room at Rooney.

Rooney held Thoreau close and kissed him softly. He knew what Thoreau was trying to do. Trying to persuade him not to worry about it with sex.

He kissed him again, then pulled back. "You've got to make dinner and I've got to write an essay."
