Dudley had never been to New York before, but he and Romy were going to America to visit Rex and Rider and their baby. Romy had been wanting to do it for ages and Dudley had saved up the money and surprised her with plane tickets for her birthday, so now they were doing Christmas in New York City. There was a baby and gay porn stars involved, but it was still going to be the most romantic trip ever. Dudley was counting on it.

He was all bundled up in his winter coat and scarf as he and Romy rode the lift up to the top of the Empire State Building. "Are you going to be warm enough at the top?" he asked, looking down at his girlfriend who he was about to try and make his fiance. "I could give you my scarf."

Dudley could tell how much Romy liked the view and he was excited for this. He laughed as he fingered the box in his pocket. "We should," he agreed. "We'll spy on all of them. Can I ask you something before we do that?"

He pulled the box out of his pocket and dropped to one knee in front of Romy, opening the box so she could see his grandmother's ring in the box. "Romilda Macnair, I love you more than anything. I want to have a family with you and grow old together and spend my life making you happy. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?"

Romy turned to look at Dudley, but had to drop her eyes to where he was kneeling. She stared at him, then the ring came out and she didn't know what to do. Her breath caught in her throat and she was left staring at him for a long moment before she began to cry.

"Dudley." Her voice was breathy. "You... Yes. Of course I'll marry you." She put her hand over her mouth, holding out her other hand to him as she started to cry.

Dudley got to his feet, wrapping his arms around Romy and holding her close to his chest. "I love you," he said, kissing at Romy's face. "Don't cry. Give me your hand. I had the ring sized so it'll fit your little fingers and everything."

He slipped one of her mittens off, putting the ring onto her finger and then tucking the box away in his pocket again and grinning down at her. "I even asked Walden's permission like you wanted me to."

	How could Romy not cry? She was so emotional about it all. She was finally going to marry Dudley and it was going to be perfect. She looked down at him and wiped at her eyes, taking a deep breath as she leaned in to kiss him. "I love you so much, Dudley." She whispered, pressing close to him. "I love you." "I love you too," Dudley promised, grinning against Romy's lips. "I can't wait to marry you and make you Mrs. Dursley. We're going to have the best life, I promise. I'm going to be the best husband to you."

He picked her up in his arms, spinning around and laughing a little. "We get to tell Rex and Rider and their son that we're engaged," he said, smiling up at her. "You can call your dads and tell them too."

	"I can't believe you talked to Walden and lived to tell the day." Romy told him with a soft laugh, kissing him again and making a soft noise against his lips. "Rabastan saved me," Dudley admitted, smiling at Romy. "Your dad is like... a super hero when it comes to your other dad. I can see why they'd been together for so long. They're good together."

He scooped kissed Romy's nose and then took his gloves back from her. "I think that's a great idea. Cupcakes and then Rider and Rex and the baby."

Dudley felt like he was walking on air as they knocked on the door to Rider and Rex's brownstone. He had an arm around his beautiful fiance and she was holding a box of the best cupcakes in New York City.

Rider was just drying off from his shower when he heard the knock on the door. He was really looking forward to seeing Romy, but he didn't want to be too eager. He pulled his sweatpants on. "Rex, you got the kid?" he asked, grabbing his a shirt from the dresser. "I don't want him trying to escape again. That twinky nanny is way too into letting him explore."

"S'plore!" Xavier repeated, grinning at his father and then looking out at the people waiting to enter the door. Xavier held his arms out them, making a happy sound. He loved meeting new people. New people always told him how cute he was.

Dudley had kind of gotten used to the way Romy's friends and family thought he was a push over. He smiled at Rex and the baby. "We brought cupcakes," he said.

Rider came down the stairs, grinning when he saw Romy and pulling her out of Dudley's arms. He leaned down and gave her a long kiss. "Long time no see."

Romy smiled up at Rider and hugged him close to her chest. He had been her friend for so long and then they'd just had a fallen out. "I missed you." She told him, then kissed him again and pulled away to hold the baby.

"Hello Xavi-Wavi." She kissed his forehead and looked him over. "Your hair is a mess. Your Daddies are going to have to let me fix it, aren't they?"

Xavier didn't know this woman, but he liked her. He cooed happily, smiling up at her. "My hair," he informed her, reaching up to touch it. "No brush."

Rider rolled his eyes. "Xavier doesn't like it when we comb his hair," he said. "And he cried every time someone comes near him with scissors. Come in, Dursley. You're making us all freeze to death."

Dudley stepped into the house, pulling the door shut behind himself and pulling off his gloves. "We brought cupcakes," he said, holding the box out to Rex. "I heard this place is supposed to be good."

"He's probably worried you'll give him a stupid hair cut like yours." Romy stuck her tongue out at Rider and then looked down at Xavier. "Do you want me to fix your hair?"

"One of the best in the city. I own this shop." Rex nodded, taking the box from Dudley and placing it on the table beside the couch. "Thank you. We ordered some Chinese in case the two of you were hungry."

Xavier kept his hands over his hair as he looked up at the woman. She was so pretty and her hair was long and silky. Xavier wanted long, silky hair too. "Kay," he agreed, moving his hands cautiously. "No ouchy."

Rider snorted at that, taking a seat on the couch. "There's a comb around here somewhere. Rex spends a lot of time on his hair. Take off your coat and settle in before you start playing with Xavier's hair, Rom."

Dudley had obviously chosen right then. He smiled at Rex. "We'd love Chinese," he said. "We had a really exciting first day in New York. Really eventful." He shrugged off his coat and gloves as he looked over at Romy. "Right, babe?"

Romy rolled her eyes at Rider and pulled off her coat. She held it out to him, then grabbed a comb and sat down with Xavier, starting to comb his hair back so she could style it. "We've had a very eventful day." She told them both, then held out her hand.

Rex stared down at the ring on Romy's finger and grinned. "Holy shit. Daddy didn't say shit." He looked at Xavier. "You're getting married?"

Rider blinked at Romy for a moment, then looked down at the ring. "Fuck," he said. "Seriously? You're getting married?" He looked up at Dudley, doing his best not to say what he was thinking, which was Him? Romy could have done a lot better.

Xavier looked between his daddies and grinned. "Shit fuck!" he repeated, clapping his hands. "Shit fuck!"

Dudley was glad they didn't have kids yet. He laughed as he took a seat next to Romy on the couch. "Yeah," he said. "I proposed to her on top of the Empire State Building."

	"No no, Xavier. Good boys don't say those words." Romy told him, then swooped his hair a bit so that it was laying down and then smiled at him. "Your Daddies aren't good boys. You shouldn't say those words." She looked up at Rider. "We're getting married and, of course, we need you to come to the wedding. Rider has to be my maid of honor." (Reply to this)(Parent)
