Evan was kind of annoyed with his sister, if he was being honest. She'd decided to go on some kind of secret mission the same weekend they'd decided to go camping. So to keep the evening nice, he invited the only straight boy he knew that was actually straight. He was waiting for Lucius and Narcissa to show up at the camp meeting spot, leaning against the camper he'd borrowed from his parents.

"So... Camping." Thorfin asked with a snort, looking at Evan. "I'm actually really good at camping. But.. You want me to flirt with a girl whose fiance will be here?"

"That's the idea." Evan told him, nodding. "Flirt with her and piss him off. It'll be great fun. There they are."

"Poached, usually," Narcissa said. She looked around the camper. "But we're already roughing it, so I'll just take them scrambled. I can't cook at all. I don't know if Evan told you what my family's like. They whole... thing with Lucius is basically an arranged marriage."

"So your friend can flirt with Narcissa some more." Lucius tossed his things in with Evan's and his friends, then got in the passenger side. "I don't resent it, you know. You bringing in someone else to shag her. She's going to be my wife, but she's a decent girl. She's free to make herself happy."

"I can try to poach... if by poaching you mean putting it in boiling water for a while." Thor admitted with a grin, then shrugged. "Yeah. It's kind of shit. I think you'd be better off marrying someone who will actually love you."

Evan looked at Lucius. "I think it makes it horrible for her that she doesn't have any other choice but to marry you. If she says no, there's a good chance her family will disown her."

"Maybe I'll stick to scrambled for now," Narcissa said, laughing. She pursed her lips when Thor said she should be marrying someone who actually loved her, then shrugged. "My family really wants this. They already disowned one of my sisters. I don't want to marry someone who doesn't love me, but I love my family. I know why they think Lucius will be good for me. He's rich. They want me taken care of. Maybe Lucius and I will come to an understanding eventually."

"And what about me?" Lucius asked, looking at Evan. "I'm my father's only child. It's my responsibility to have an heir to continue our bloodline. The fact that I'm gay can't factor into that. I'm not going to lock Narcissa up in a tower. If she was my wife, she's have money and a big house. She could have boyfriends. Go shopping whenever she wanted. Have parties. I'd give her a lot more freedom than most husbands."

"We'll. We'll see how you like me this weekend." Thor told her with a grin. "I may not be as rich as Lucius Malfoy, nor have the prestige of his family, but I have a lot of money. Well, my parents do. But, it'll be mine one day."

"It's not about having freedom and having money." Evan told him. "Narcissa is a princess and she reads a lot of books about falling in love and getting married and having a perfect family. That's what she's looking for. You can't provide that for her. At the end of the day, all the money in the world won't make up for her not finding her prince charming."

Narcissa raised an eyebrow at that. "Is your family like Evan's?" she asked. "It would make sense that you two are friends. I don't know. It's not all about money to me. Just my parents. I just want to fall in love with someone and have them like me back."

"Prince charming doesn't exist," Lucius said, rolling his eyes at Evan. "I realize she's young, but the sooner she learns that, the better off she'll be in life. Nobody is going to come and sweep her off her feet. Certainly not some public schooled boy who was put up to hitting on her. I'm sure he's happy about it. She's very pretty. But he's not thinking about romance and marriage, he's thinking about sex. Narcissa's deluded."

"We don't own vineyards. We own properties and buildings." Thor told her, shaking his head. "Things like that. We're not fancy people, however. We don't live snobby lives. And I chose not to go to private school."

"Prince Charming exists for some people. You are clearly not Prince Charming." Evan shook his head. "I don't understand how you can be so bitter and such a prick. Is it because you're rich?"

"I like my school," Narcissa told Thor. "I mean, I guess it would have been nice to go to a school that had boys too, but I don't think I'd survive public school. Everyone just... doing whatever they wanted all the time. It sounds like anarchy."

"What, being rich makes people bitter pricks? Being rich gets you everything you could ever want, Evan. It has nothing to do with being rich." Lucius rolled his window down, pulling out a pack of fags and lighting one. "Being bitter and being a prick usually go together. Does it really matter why? It's just who I am."

Narcissa shook his head. "I like professors giving a fuck. I like everyone having an understanding of how the system works. Professors make sure there's no violence and not too much intimidation, but let us have our space to gossip. Except for Christina. The Headmaster took away her phone because our English teacher doesn't like her very much and sent her to the office for texting."

"You don't even really know me, Rosier." Lucius frowned at Evan, taking a drag from his cigarette and blowing the smoke out of the window. "You've met me a handful of times, and the first time we met we spent more time getting off than talking. The second time, you punched me. Now this." Lucius gestured around the cab. "I'm taking care of my family. I understand my responsibility to them. That's all."

"I'm sorry. You're so pretty I'm getting distracted by it." Thor told her, shaking his head to stop looking at her. "What about your English professor?"

Evan looked at him for a moment. "I know you're okay ruining someone else's dreams to make sure your parents think you're something you're not. And I've heard rumours about you. Not to mention you do cocaine. And you sucked me off the moment you met me. You have no intention on ever finding a boyfriend and that's pretty much the only thing I'm looking for."
