Okay, so this was definitely a terrible idea, but Christina was doing it anyway. She'd skipped the camping trip with her brother and Narcissa and now she was standing across the street from the restaurant and it was just after seven. She was going to go in and then she'd be on a maybe date with the Headmaster of her school who was technically old enough to be her father, if he's knocked someone up in high school.

Christina took a deep breath and crossed the street. She hadn't gotten dressed up for nothing. She could always just change her mind about volunteering in the office if this turned weird. Weirder. Christina stepped inside the restaurant, glancing around until she saw Tom, tucked away in a quiet corner of the place, and made her excuses to the hostess as she walked across the room to greet him. She definitely hadn't misunderstood the invitation, right? "This place is nice on a Saturday at seven," she said, stopping beside his table.

Tom laughed at that. "It's surprising, I know. She's not the biggest fan of a lot of the camping stuff, but she does like s'mores. Her fiance was going this time too, but his hands are way too manicured for him to be outdoorsy."

She brushed a bit of hair behind her ear. "I love camping. I'm not as outdoorsy as my brother, but I like getting my hands dirty."

"Yes, but you look as if you could handle your own." Tom told her with a shrug. "You look like a tough girl underneath your gorgeous exterior. You could probably fix a car better than I could."

He gave her a brief smile, then glanced at the salad that was delivered. "Did you eat today?" He asked. "I forgot to eat today. I'm bad at taking care of myself."

"You forgot to eat?" Christina raised an eyebrow at that, picking up her glass of wine after it was poured for her. "I ate today. I'm not one of those girls that doesn't eat. You should eat."

She took a sip of her wine. "On Monday I'll bring you coffee and a pastry when I come in to drop my phone off so you'll at least have breakfast."

Tom laughed at that. "It would be appreciated, but you don't' have to. You shouldn't be expected to take care of me. I should be able to take care of myself. I'm sure you have other worries."

He sat back and began to get a bit of salad from the bowl. "Have some. The salad here is delicious."

"No, my life is pretty care-free right now. No boyfriend, no school trouble, no family drama. The most I have to worry about if my brother getting a crush on Narcissa's fiance and that won't stop me from picking up coffee before school," Christina told Tom, shaking her head. "I want to."

She served herself some of the salad and picked up her fork. "You should tell me more about yourself. I feel like I'm always talking to you about me and my friends."

"I'm fine with you talking about you and your friends. You're much more interesting than I am." Tom assured her, shaking his head. "The most I do is go to work."

He ate a bite of his salad. "Well. Lucius would be better off with your brother. Since he's queer as all hell."

"You must have other interests, though," Christina said, shaking her head. "I spend most of my time at school, but I still hang out with my friends and spend a lot of time reading about wine and worrying about the vineyard while we're in England."

She tried some of the salad and hummed happily. "This is good. Evan wants to prove to Narcissa that Lucius is gay so she won't marry him. I'm not sure it'll matter that he is. Her family is crazy."

"Lucius is the second richest heir in the United Kingdom. Of course it won't matter." Tom shook his head and laughed. "I know her parents. They'd never let something as trivial as sexuality stop their daughter from getting married to him."

He shook his head. "They'll probably have children with awful names like theirs."

Tom thought about what he did outside of work. "Well. I collect trinkets. Thinks from people I look up to. Sheet music of composers I adore and books signed by the authors."
