Toni looked up from textbook and gave out a sigh of frustration. She understood a lot of it, but there were a number of bits that she just didn't get. Anya would probably have been able to, but her friend was pretty much light years ahead of her in the smarts department.

Not that Toni considered herself stupid by any means, but frankly, she tended to rely on her powers rather than hard science. Doctor Pym had once said something about an "intuitive understanding" of the materials she could command. Since metal, glass, and plastic obeyed her mental commands, she had to have some kind of intuitive understanding of function for that to work. So she could tell she could create a weapon out of various bits of technology, but she had no idea herself how that weapon worked, most likely. Being able to turn a toaster into a heatwave was all well and good, but not as good as knowing the theory behind it. Either way, how her powers worked made her head hurt.

Which was why she wanted to know more. To be smarter and more savvy. As it was, with Anya heading off to MIT and her still in high school, well, the competition was steep.

She groaned and returned to her page. "Okay, electrical conductivity and tessellation strength..."
