Draco wasn't sure he was ever going to get used to living in this new world. He could come and go from Hogwarts when he pleased. The Dark Lord liked him. His grandfather was alive -- and the reason the Dark Lord liked him, as far as he could work out. There was no Potter. His father worked at Hogwarts. Things were so... different. He walked around feeling like maybe it was a dream of he was in shock or something. Maybe somewhere he was in a coma.

"What would you do if I had a nervous breakdown?" he asked Pansy, as they walked across the grounds towards the Groundskeeper's hut. At least Hagrid probably wasn't their instructor for Care of Magical Creatures. Tom was too competent to allow an oaf like that a teaching position at his school. "Do you know what the warning signs are? I think I should learn them."

	"Something like that. You and I are capable of seeing them." Charlie pointed out and then shrugged. "They need to be fed and none of the other kids really know how to do it. 	Draco supposed he should know why he wanted to go to the dragon reserve to train. He just nodded, reaching up and hesitantly petting the thestral's nose. A horse had been the only animal to ever like him, and these were like horses, right? He smiled a bit when his hand wasn't bitten off. "I think I can probably handle that. That was true. He did like dragons. Draco nodded, looking at thestral in front of him. He could always speak to Tom about his apparent desire to get eaten by a dragon. Or maybe his grandfather. Maybe Pansy. "I'd forgotten all about wanting to go to the reserve," he said. "If I... seem a bit off with the animals just put it down to my amnesia. I'm sure it'll come back to me." Or he'd lose a finger. Whichever came first.

Charlie laughed at that and shook his head. "That's nonsense, Malfoy. You're a natural with the animals. Amenesia or not, you sadly know a lot more about animals than some of the men who work at the reserve. You're so good with them. Like last summer when you visited and you were able to calm that female Chinese Fireball. It was amazing work. The best I'd ever seen."

	Last summer? Draco blinked at Charlie and tried to reconcile what he knew about himself with the new information Charlie was giving him. "I don't remember that," he said.
