Remus had spent the better part of a week being interrogated and re-introduced to Fenrir's pack. But Fenrir had always liked him, and some of the others who remembered him had been happy enough to accept him back. The plan had worked, so far. Today was the day he was in the most danger.

Remus moved through the halls of Hogwarts with the rest of the people Fenrir had selected to accompany him to Hogwarts, limping just a little from the torture that had been meant to make him confess anything he'd done wrong. He'd been through worse. It hadn't been as bad as what could potentially happen to him here.

Fenrir was looking forward to having his wolves in Riddle's school, even if Riddle didn't want him to stay personally. The man got too uptight about his kids. He led his wolves up to Riddle's office and knocked on the door.

Tom wasn't sure he entirely believed Remus's story. He frowned at him for a moment. "My son loves the blond boy. We know that you healed him the wolf way, which we were appreciative of. Didn't leave a scar behind."

But, then Tom began to search the wolf's mind. He saw flashes of tiny things, but he kept feeling a bit blocked. He saw a flash of Sirius Black. "What business did you have with Black?"

Remus did his best not to react to the name, shaking his head a little. "I don't know a Black," he said. He wasn't going to reveal Sirius's involvement with the resistance. Regulus would suffer for it too, and he hadn't signed up for the risk, even if Sirius had. "If you could show me what Black looks like, I might be able to tell you."

Greyback didn't like the sound of that. The only Black he knew was Sirius Black, who was charming and far too pretty to be spending time around one of his pups, even if Remus was too old for him now. "Sirius Black," he said. "He's a pretty boy pure-blood."

	Tom hummed thoughtfully as he looked the man over. He seemed genuine. "Perhaps you only saw him while you were in Knockturn and you found him attractive. I'm sure that's it. Remus relaxed a little when Riddle stopped asking about Sirius. It was a good enough excuse. He looked up at the man for a moment. "I apologise," he said. "For any inconvenience I caused when I was being kept under the influence of Imperius. I'll make it up to you and to Fenrir. I want to prove myself."

"He was always good with the pups," Fenrir said, looking down at Remus. "You said you didn't want any of them with a preference for young flesh. He never really had a taste for it, and I figure you can keep an eye on him here. Won't be disappearing again if he's at Hogwarts."

"I suppose he'll do. And you're right. I did ask for ones who wouldn't want to harm my children." Tom thought of all the students at Hogwarts as his children. He was the one who took care of them, after all.

His eyes moved back to Remus. "You're not to go near my son. And if he goes near you, I want you to tell me." He glanced at his son. "I will know if you harm him."

	Remus nodded. "Of course, my Lord," he said. He looked down at his hands. It would be for the best if he wasn't seen getting close to Merlin Riddle anyway. He could still observe. And see what Regulus thought he was doing playing around with June Riddle. "I'll keep my distance. I promise." Fenrir smiled and offered Riddle his hand. "We have a deal then, Riddle?" 	Tom nodded and looked Fenrir over. His hand was filthy, but Tom knew he had to make certain sacrifices to make people happy. He eyed the hand a moment more, then shook it and nodded again. Fenrir smiled as he shook the man's hand. It was a good deal for him, and he did love his children. "Perfect," he said. He reached down and patted Remus's head absently. "It'll be nice to have such ripe fruit to pick from."

Remus felt horrified, although he did his best not to let it show on his face. Children found unfit for Hogwarts would be considered as new members of the pack. That was definitely something the resistance needed to know about.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Remus said, keeping his shields firmly in place and smiling blandly at Merlin. "Werewolves are different from wizards and witches. Fenrir is my maker and that gives him a hold on me."

Merlin needed to find something though. If he felt like he'd gotten one over on Remus he might stop prying so hard. Remus showed him a glimpse of the things he'd done to make money before meeting Sirius. "There are worse things than living with the pack."

Remus laughed softly. Merlin was very talented and obviously dangerous, but Remus still remembered the little boy who'd yelled at Moody with his friends. "I'm glad to hear you're still friends with the same people. I remember how worried you were about Draco." He looked down at Merlin. "You told your father I healed him, but he didn't seem to know I was the one who got the three of you out of the house. It was a stupid plan, kidnapping children."

Although your father and Abraxas Malfoy do keep a close eye on what they print. Perhaps it's not so surprising.
